Tree Planting October 11th!

This year’s trees will be getting planted on the 11th and we need volunteers! If you would like to help with tree planting fill out this form

Many ash trees have been lost to the invasive emerald ash borer and there’s less canopy coverage where BIPOC and low-income residents tend to live. Data shows that these areas with fewer trees results in summer heat being at least 5-7 degrees higher than in the rest of the city. Come support the neighborhood by planting trees to increase tree diversity and help create a more sustainable and equitable tree canopy in the area.

Who is this service opportunity for?

Individuals or groups who are looking for a fall volunteer activity, service day, or team building event can participate in this fall tree planting. Prior tree planting experience is preferred but not required. This activity is best for folks who can carry 15 pounds, shovel soil and traverse uneven ground. Children younger than 12 years old may find this work hard to do, but youngsters who can follow instructions can attend along with an adult.

If you know any community members that could use a larger shade tree, have them fill out this form before the end of September!
