Jenne Nelson, Executive Director

Jenne (she/her) is a lifelong educator and lifelong learner, with degrees in Secondary English Education and Teaching English as a Second Language.

She spent the first part of her career as a high school English and debate teacher, including a six-month stint teaching in Hangzhou, China. In 2012, her love of education brought her to the English Learning Center, a nonprofit program in Minneapolis for adult English language learners where she developed an interest in nonprofit management and community engagement. In 2018, she and her husband and two children moved to Brazil (Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul) for a work project. After returning to St. Paul in late 2019, she joined the Como Community Council and later worked in nonprofit fund development for grassroots organizing organizations.

To her current role as Executive Director of the Hamline Midway Coalition, she brings a decade of nonprofit management experience, a dedication to equity, and a sincere belief in the power -and importance- of community.
