Green To Go!

The Hamline Midway neighborhood is on board to create a more environmental city via takeout waste reduction!

The Green to Go ordinance passed in 2022 by the city of St. Paul is meant to convert a pollution issue into a resource by creating more soil health through composting food waste and much of its packaging. This page supports local businesses and community members in their efforts to comply with the Green to Go packaging ordinance.

Together, we can make our neighborhoods greener and more sustainable.

General information on how to reduce your food waste:

  • In St. Paul, our trash is burned. When food and non-recyclable containers go into the trash, they have negative environmental effects. Specifically problematic is the creation of air pollution upon burning plastics, and the inefficiencies of burning wet food waste.
