Gunnar Aas
Gunnar has lived in the Hamline Midway neighborhood since 2015 and has been active with the Hamline Midway Coalition since 2022. He currently serves on the board and the Transportation Committee, where he advocates for safer streets, better bike and transit infrastructure, and a more walkable, people-centered neighborhood. He also helps organize community cleanups and coordinates the Adopt-a-Stop program at the Snelling Avenue Green Line station.
Professionally, Gunnar is the IT Manager at HOURCAR, a nonprofit based in Saint Paul that operates two carshare services: HOURCAR, a round-trip service at neighborhood hubs, and Evie Carshare, a one-way, all-electric service with a home area spanning Minneapolis and Saint Paul. His work focuses on making car-lite living more feasible by supporting reliable, shared transportation options across the Twin Cities.
Outside of work, Gunnar has been involved in harm reduction and drug policy advocacy since 2015, holding volunteer and board leadership roles with organizations focused on public health, safety, and justice.
He values transparency, thoughtful governance, and a willingness to make hard decisions when necessary. Gunnar is passionate about strengthening local institutions and shaping public spaces that serve neighbors, not cars and billionaires.
