Our Work

Hamline Midway Coalition – District Council 11

Hamline Midway Coalition (HMC) is an action-oriented, neighborhood-based organization that develops and supports resident-led initiatives in Community Building, Transportation, Economic Development, and general neighborhood improvement. HMC also coordinates participation in public policy decision making and provides high quality information to the community on matters of public interest.

HMC is dedicated to making the Hamline Midway neighborhood of Saint Paul a great place to live, learn, work, and play. Our service area is bounded by University Avenue on the south, Pierce Butler Route on the north, Transfer Road on the west, and Lexington Parkway on the east.

In Spring 2019, HMC's Board of Directors, staff, and committee members participated in a strategic vision session. Our goal was to align our work as a neighborhood organization with the values and voices of those who live in the Hamline Midway neighborhood.

Led by a facilitator, we focused on how we can strengthen HMC internally and amplify the voices of residents and businesses in Midway. Topics such as board governanace, how we welcome participation from residents, and how we can build on the assets that exist in Midway were discussed.

Our commitments to those who live in Hamline Midway include:

  • Emphasis on building trust and connection

  • Amplifying our strengths and leveraging from these foundations to goals
  • Improving representation
  • Creating specific paths for planning and implementation of our goals
